Salvator - the granddaddy of all
stouts, the original itself.
With its full-blooded, typically malty taste, it can be called the original
Paulaner. The bottom-fermented strong Doppelbock beer combines the finest
hops with dark barley malt. During the fasting period, it served the Paulaner
monks as »liquid nourishment«.
The most famous master brewer was Brother Barnabas, and his original recipe
survives virtually unchanged. Original wort: 18.3 %, alcohol 7.5%, calories
70.6 kcal/100 ml.
During the Starkbierfest, Salvator stout is traditionally served in the 1-litre
stein, called the Keferloher. Here's to your health!
